Accounts last a long time and never die. I successfully tried logging into 50,000 accounts from a single IP address without any problems.
These accounts ONLY allow you to view emails and change passwords. They do not allow you to send emails or use other features.
While accounts don't support the IMAP protocol, it does have an API for reading emails. (Log in and click "API" to learn more.)
